I don't know how LEDSDriver detects MCE recordings. (The current method is not 100% reliable for my computer. See the recording number shifting post).

But I think it would be more reliable to detect file changes in the MCE recording folder. LEDSDriver could probe the folder every 30 seconds or so, and detect number of recordings based on how many files have significant increase in size.

Thanks for great work,
Stan

Beleve me, I have tried that. And besides that a dozen other approaches.
A the moment I am using MSAS, the officially supported method that really works best of all.

Unfortunately it is a very sensetive API. Other plug-ins, like VFD (display) software, can break the proper operation at some point.

This is why I made MST to restart Media Center at every suspend and reboot the system on a regular base.

I wrote a very simple c++ program (attached). It is trivial - I am not a C++ programmer.

The program checks the MCE recording folder for file changes every minute. It is slow to detect new recordings (1-2 minutes), but it works and it is reliable.

Maybe, this method could be an option in LEDSDriver, please.

Remove txt extension from the attached file, pls.

1. Enter MCE recording folder in MCE_Recs.ini
2. LEDSDriver should be in C:\Program Files\LEDSdriver

3. Define UserEvent1 and UserEvent2 in LEDSDriver
When there is 1 recording, UserEvent1 will be set to 1
When there is 2 recordings, UserEvent2 will be set to 1
No recordings ->UserEvent1=0 and UserEvent2=0

4. Run the program. It will run hidden. Ctrl+Alt+Del to close.

The application works ok, but it takes 1-2 minute to react to the current MCE recording status.

The attached zip file contains the source code, sample init file, and the exe. Only exe and ini are needed to run it.

The application has been working for 2 weeks now. It is very reliable in detecting MCE recordings and it works very well with LEDSDriver. It uses only a few seconds of processor power per week. The 1 minute delay in reacting to MCE status doesn't bother me.

Yes, the previous download was broken. Let's try again. If it still doesn't work, then pls use RapidShare.

Hi Smatofu,

From time to time, I get back to this forum, looking for reliability of the recording detection.

I gave your program a try, but it didn't work on my config : maybe a question of dll, or language (french on my side), or ?..

If you are still happy with it, I'd like to push my search further.

I've got three double tuners (yes, 6 recordings, a bit optimistic...) so the only thing I want to know is : is there at least one recording in progress, no matter the number. (I did test your program with one or two recordings, without success)
My recording folder is : E:\TV enregistrée.

If you can send me the source code, I could look into it.

Many thanks in advance !
